Dower Strengthens Collaboration with Católica Porto School of Law

Dower has strengthened its institutional partnership with the Católica Porto School of Law through the signing of an addendum to the cooperation agreement in force since 2023, further consolidating a relationship built on the promotion of academic excellence, innovation in legal education, and closer ties between academia and legal practice.

As part of this enhanced collaboration, Dower lawyers will participate in practical classes, providing students with first-hand insight into the challenges of legal practice and the application of law in a business context.

The partnership also includes the creation of the Dower Law Firm Award in Corporate and Business Law, a merit-based distinction to be awarded to the master's dissertation in the field of Corporate and Business Law achieving the highest academic grade. This initiative aims to recognise and encourage academic excellence.

This strengthened cooperation forms part of the Dower Academy, an initiative through which the firm fosters stronger connections between academia and legal practice by investing in education, knowledge sharing, and talent development. The Dower Academy reflects the firm's commitment to practising law with purpose, actively contributing to the education of future generations of legal professionals and to the strengthening of the legal community.

The addendum also provides for the development of further academic and scientific cooperation initiatives of mutual interest, reinforcing both institutions' commitment to excellence in legal education and to strengthening the relationship between academia and professional practice.

The addendum was formally signed by Marta Portocarrero, Dean of the Católica Porto School of Law, and Eduardo Castro Marques, Managing Partner of DOWER CMNS, marking another milestone in the development of a strategic partnership that continues to create value for both institutions while contributing to the advancement of legal education and legal research.
